About Our Chef
Your dining experience tonight is a culmination of the experience gained in culinary arts by Tim Schroeder, Sedalia's own "Iron Chef."
His experience goes back nearly 30 years to his first job as a chef in a Chinese restaurant called Kwan Yin in Wentzville.
While there he quickly became the Kitchen Manager, gaining extensive knowledge in the art of oriental cuisine.
In 1980, Chef Tim received his Apprentice Degree from St. Louis Community College, while serving as a chef at a French cuisine restaurant called "Elijah McClain's"
in Washington, Missouri and an Irish cuisine restaurant called "Patrick's" in West Port Plaza in St. Louis. After college, he was called to work as a
Sous Chef at the Adams Mark Hotels in both St. Louis and Kansas City. There he added to his arsenal the knowledge of wild game preparation including bison, rattlesnake, alligator,
and many others. With his culinary skills preceding him, Tim was next given the position of Head Chef at a fine dining authentic German restaurant called
"The Bevo Mill" in St. Louis, Missouri. During his seven years as Head Chef at this 1917 historic German windmill, Tim developed extensive knowledge of German cuisine.
In 1991, Tim and his wife, Dorothy, along with their four children, began foster parenting, which ultimately led to their move to La Monte, Missouri, where they impacted the lives
of many young people during their tenure as houseparents. Always a chef at heart, Tim utilized his culinary skills in that position as well, preparing meals for the staff and children, and
catering large functions held by the youth home.
In 1998, with his heart in culinary arts, Tim, always the ambitious, hardworking individual became employed as the Assistant Chef at the Sedalia Country Club. Meanwhile, he continued his
volunteer efforts for special functions at Show-Me Christian Youth Home and prepared meals on Wednesday nights for Northside Christian Church, where he and his family currently attend.
Finally, in 2006, Tim's long road and accumulation of culinary experience led him to the opening of his own restaurant, "Ivory Grille." Tim's approach to his menu is an ecletic variety of entrees intended
to showcase his experience of a vast assortment of culinary traditions and styles. Truly you are in for a treat! Relax and enjoy the memorable experience as your taste buds delight in the delicious cuisine before you.
